Hoshino Coffee opened last year when the new extension of Plaza Singapura was completed and I guess is pretty well-known for their hand-dripped coffee? In fact, whenever I walk past them when I'm in the new extension (which sadly means that I got lost trying to find my way out!), they are always fully packed with a queue snaking outside. So on a Saturday afternoon where I decided that I would only have desserts for lunch, we decided to drop by Hoshino Coffee considering the queue was pretty short (with 4 sets of diners in queue?)
Sadly though, while they are known for their coffee, I was more interested in their matcha items on their menu instead (particularly their souffle). =P
We queued for about 15minutes before being seated as it was lunchtime on a Saturday. Service was prompt and really good, as since we were headed for a shoot and were carrying really huge bags (ok, me really) and upon seeing that, the waiter serving us immediately went off to get a holder for us to put our bags in. (though, mine was really too big to fit in, so I had it placed under the table instead).

Anyway, here's what we had:
1) Iced Matcha Latte with Softee
($9.30++)
Verdict: Pardon the fact this got half-eaten by the time I stole a picture of it. The matcha was nice and thick, very much like the kind you get at a traditional tea ceremony. Goes very well with the softee which was doused with more matcha too!
Top to bottom:
2) Carbonara with Yolk and Bacon
($14.00++)
3) Fuwa-fuwa Hoshino Souffle
($15.80++)
4) Matcha Souffle (with softee)
($10.30++)
Verdict: The Carbonara was not my order, but I did had a few mouthfuls of it. The funny thing about this dish was that there was no bacon, only strips of ham. Not complaining since they can be substitutes of each other but my grouse for this dish was that the pasta is way too undercooked!
Verdict: The Hoshino Souffle is just...odd. It came wobbly like a jello (it's a souffle!) and we just can't stop prodding it! Past that though, the taste was just odd. It was a mixture between sweet and savory, but they don't complement each other too well either. Word of caution: for those who can't take beef, this contains beef. I only realized it AFTER I ate it.
Verdict: This Matcha Souffle is really sweet, so for those who don't like really sweet stuff, give this a miss. I was pretty disappointed with this because other than the sweetness, I couldn't really taste the matcha at all. Definitely a dessert for the ladies with a sweet-tooth!
The good thing about this place is that service is prompt, albeit a little overwhelmed at times because we were given the receipts for other tables twice (despite the fact that ours was already on the table in full view). They have a buzzer system too in case you can't catch the attention of the waiters/waitresses, which is good, so you don't have to make a fool of yourself waving your arms like windscreen wipers. Would I visit them again? For their drinks yes, for their food...maybe no.
