I have to admit, I fell in love with the food at Poulet after having had it in June for the first time then. This time, I managed to try the other items that were on the menu that I didn't managed to the first time round because the person I was with, wasn't too sporting with trying them. Surprisingly though, there was no queue when I was there on a Saturday afternoon.
1) Escargot de Bourgogne
($8.80++)
Verdict: This came piping hot, and the garlic butter was sizzling away when it arrived at our time. Digging in, you would realize that the escargot were placed ontop of a tomato puree before being topped with the garlic butter. Taste-wise, I find that the tomato puree was overly sour and the garlic butter didn't go very well with the escargot. But, it could just be me.
2) Braise de Canard
($14.80++)
Verdict: Hilariously, this was shared between 3 of us, as we ordered the full Poulet Roti as well (but everyone just wanted a taste of this too). Despite the fact that it looks like it would be pretty heavy tasting, this was surprisingly light on the palate. The duck was cooked to perfection such that it could be easily deboned with not much effort required. Topped with the cranberries, the slightly sweet and sour taste blended with the duck nicely such that it didn't obscure the taste of the duck. Between this and the lamb that I had before, I would pick this over the lamb because this was much flavorful.
This was my second visit to Poulet and I must say, I'm still impress by their standards in their food. We did ordered other dishes, but since I had blogged about them before, I won't be doing so (namely, the Poulet Roti and the Tiramisu). Why? Because they are still that good, that's why!
